When should the chassis be inspected?

We recommend an inspection, for example, when you notice any of these.

The sound or feel changes

  • knocking, creaking or another unusual noise while driving
  • a humming noise from the direction of a wheel
  • play in the steering
  • the car feels unstable while driving
  • the car has behaved differently since hitting a pothole or a kerb

A visible sign or upcoming work

  • the car pulls to one side
  • the steering wheel is not straight
  • the tyres wear unevenly
  • a chassis or steering fault was found at the inspection
  • you are unsure of the chassis condition before a four-wheel alignment

Frequently asked questions

What happens after the inspection?

We tell you which part is worn or damaged, how urgent the repair is and what we recommend replacing. You get an estimate of the price of parts and labour, and we can prepare a quote for the repair and agree on a time.

The inspection takes about 30 minutes, so you can wait on site.

Is an inspection needed before a four-wheel alignment?

A successful four-wheel alignment requires the chassis and steering to be in good technical condition. If there is play, broken parts or seized adjusters in the chassis, the wheel angles may not be adjustable reliably.

If you are unsure about the condition of the chassis, have a chassis inspection first, repair any faults and only then do the four-wheel alignment.

What if finding the fault takes more time?

The chassis inspection is a primary mechanical inspection. If finding the fault requires longer diagnostics, dismantling parts, a test drive or measurements, the next steps are always agreed separately – we do not continue without an agreement.

A more thorough investigation is done, if needed, as separate diagnostics.

Do you replace parts just in case?

No. We do not recommend replacing parts on a guess alone – we first find the real cause of the fault.

Book a chassis inspection

The quickest way to book a time is by phone. Tell us at the same time:

  • the car’s registration number
  • a short description of the problem
  • when and in what situation the noise, knocking or other symptom occurs

The more precisely the symptom is described, the easier it is to focus the inspection in the right place.
