Brakes
We inspect and repair the brakes of passenger cars and small vans: pads, discs, calipers, handbrakes and brake fluid. Before replacing parts, we find the real cause of the fault.

The same symptom can come from many different parts. Typical signs of a brake fault:
Before replacing parts
Without lifting the car we can usually see the condition of the discs, heavy rust, visible damage and signs of overheating, as well as the thickness of the pads if they are visible through the rim. The inspection does not replace diagnostics – not every part can be seen from the outside. Come without an appointment during opening hours.
The most common cause is a sticking brake caliper. In Finland, road salt, moisture and temperature swings damage the piston’s rubber boot, moisture gets into the piston and the piston rusts. The cause may also be in the slide pins, seized pads or the handbrake – that is why we check before replacing parts.
The cause may be a worn-out pad and wear sensor, a rusted disc edge, dirt or a seized pad. A metallic grinding noise often means the pad is worn out and the disc is being damaged – in that case, have the brakes checked straight away.
Usually the discs have run-out or have worn unevenly, for example after overheating. The discs and pads are then replaced per axle.
The cause may be a sticking caliper, a faulty brake hose, air in the braking system, a fault in the handbrake mechanism or heavy corrosion. The fault is found before parts are replaced.
There may be air in the braking system, the brake fluid may be old or something may be leaking – for example a rusted brake pipe or a caliper. A soft pedal is a safety risk, so bring the car in for inspection straight away.
Yes. On drum brakes and on disc brakes with a separate handbrake drum inside, the shoes, springs and adjuster cannot be seen from the outside, so the drum or disc is removed.
Usually not. The body of an old caliper may have corrosion, and the rebuild work often costs as much as a ready exchange caliper. A rebuild can make sense for a rare caliper or when an exchange part is not available.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, and it is changed according to the car manufacturer’s instructions, usually every couple of years. The change is a service job of its own.
We recommend quality parts such as TRW, Textar and ATE. The cheapest parts do not last long in Finnish conditions. We calculate the price of parts based on the registration number.
Send us the inspection report or its fault entry and the car’s registration number. The measured values often show where the fault is, and we can order the parts needed in advance.
