We replace steering racks on passenger cars and small vans – hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and electrically assisted. Before replacing, we make sure the fault really is in the steering rack.

Diagnostics first
Not all play in the steering means a steering rack fault. Replacement may be needed if:
- there is significant play or internal knocking in the mechanism
- power steering fluid is leaking from the steering rack
- the mechanism sticks or works unevenly
- the fault has been confirmed by diagnostics or the rack is mechanically damaged

A four-wheel alignment is mandatory
WhyThe tie rods are removed and the steering geometry changes. The correct toe angle and steering wheel position cannot be achieved without measurement.

Frequently asked questions
How much does steering rack replacement cost?
Labour costs 170–340 € on simpler designs (about 2–4 hours) and approx. 510 € on more demanding ones (about 6 hours). The steering rack, fluids and four-wheel alignment are charged separately.
New or remanufactured steering rack?
Depending on the car, we can offer a new steering rack, a quality remanufactured rack, an original part or a suitable aftermarket part. Remanufactured steering racks are widely available in Finland and can reduce the total cost significantly compared with a new original part. We give you the options in the quote.
The steering rack is leaking – does it need replacing?
Not necessarily. On hydraulic systems the fluid may also come from the power steering pipes, connections, seals, the pump or the fluid reservoir. We find the source of the leak before an expensive steering rack replacement.
Does a four-wheel alignment have to be done?
Yes. The steering geometry changes during the replacement, so an alignment is mandatory.
The inspection found play – is it the steering rack?
Not necessarily. The play may also be in the tie rod or another steering part. We check the source before the replacement.
