Body and rust

Car welding and rust repair in Helsinki

We repair rust damage to the body, sills, floor and mountings of passenger cars and small vans. The rusted metal is removed back to sound metal, new sheet metal is welded in and the repair is protected with anti-rust coating or primer – we do not just cover up the hole.

Welding and corrosion repairs charged by the hour. The real extent of rust damage only becomes clear during an inspection, so a price estimate is always made after the car has been inspected.

✓ Included in the repair

  • removing rust and weakened metal back to sound metal
  • fitting and welding new sheet metal
  • primer and seam sealing
  • black anti-rust coating on the repaired area – included in the price

× Not included in the price

  • professional painting – we are not a paint shop

Tip – save on painting: buy a spray paint matching the car’s colour code from a paint shop yourself (two for a larger repair). We apply the primer and paint the repaired area with it – the most affordable way to get a neat result.

A quality repair – with a guarantee

  • We do not do quick patches – the hole is not just covered up
  • The new sheet metal is welded with a continuous seam
  • No rust is left under the new sheet metal
  • We guarantee the car will pass the inspection as far as the repaired areas are concerned

Prices include VAT at 25.5%.

How we repair rust

We do not do quick patches where the hole is just covered up. Every rust repair is done properly, with the same steps:

  1. 1Rusted metal removedCut out back to sound metal – no rust is left under the sheet metal.
  2. 2New sheet metalThe new sheet metal is fitted and welded in place.
  3. 3Continuous seamThe seam is welded continuously so that moisture cannot get into the structure.
  4. 4Grinding the seamWhen appearance matters, the seam is ground smooth.
  5. 5ProtectionUsually black anti-rust coating. If you wish, primer with your own paint on top.

Failed the inspection because of rust?

Send us a photo or PDF of the inspection report and photos of the damage. From them we can see whether we can help. An exact price estimate is made once we have inspected the car.

  • we repair rust damage so that the car passes the inspection
  • the final amount of work often only becomes clear after the damaged area has been cleaned
  • especially on older cars there may be more extensive damage under surface rust

Before your visit

We do not just cover up the hole

Rust in sills and floors often spreads between several layers of metal, so damage that looks small from the outside does not always mean a small repair.

  • we do not do quick patches – rusted metal is always removed back to sound metal before welding
  • this is especially important in load-bearing structures and areas that affect safety
  • if the damage is too extensive to repair locally, we tell you before continuing

Protection and painting

We protect the repair – we are not a paint shop

Protection includedThe repaired area is usually protected with black anti-rust coating – seams are sealed and bare metal is primed.
A neat resultOn older cars we can use suitable paint we already have so that the repaired area looks neat.
A neat look at a low costBuy a spray paint matching the car’s colour code from a paint shop – for a larger repair it is worth getting two. We apply the primer and paint the repaired area with it.

Frequently asked questions

Can the price be estimated from a photo?

Not reliably. From photos we can see where the damage is and tell you whether we can help, but rust that looks small can be much more extensive on the inside. That is why the car is always inspected before a price estimate. If more is found during the repair, we agree on the next steps with you before the work.

Will the repair last through the winters?

The repaired area is primed, the seams are sealed and underbody protection is applied on top. This protects the repair against road salt and moisture.

Do you also repair exhaust mountings and other metal parts?

Yes. We also repair rusted or damaged mountings and individual metal parts by welding if they can be repaired reliably. More about exhaust work on the Exhaust repair page.

What if the damage is too extensive?

If the damage affects a structure that cannot be repaired properly with a local repair, we tell you before continuing the work, and you decide how to proceed.
