We replace front and rear wheel bearings on passenger cars and small vans. Depending on the car’s design, the bearing is pressed in separately or replaced together with the wheel hub.
A hum is not always the bearingThe same noise can be caused by the tyres or brakes – a 20 € chassis inspection confirms the cause before parts are replaced.
Wheel bearing replacement. The actual price depends on the car’s design and the amount of dismantling needed. Parts are charged separately.
Labour price
Rear wheel bearing
from 85 €
Replacing the rear wheel bearing or hub unit.
Front wheel bearing
from 127.50 €
Replacing the front wheel bearing or hub unit. There is usually more dismantling.
✓ Included in the work
dismantling the wheel hub and the necessary parts
replacing the bearing by pressing or replacing the whole hub unit
reassembling and refitting the parts
× Not included in the price

four-wheel alignment, if needed
ABS or ESP fault diagnostics
the ABS sensor, if it needs replacing at the same time
Good to know: sometimes the ABS sensor has to be replaced together with the bearing. If the sensor has rusted in, it cannot always be removed without damage. The sensor may also already be damaged before the replacement, when the ABS ring on the bearing or driveshaft has rusted and swollen. We tell you about this before continuing.

When does a wheel bearing need replacing?
Typical symptoms of a faulty bearing are:
a humming noise from a wheel that gets louder as speed increases
the noise changes when cornering
there is play in the wheel or the bearing feels rough
the fault was found at the inspection or during a chassis inspection
ABS or ESP fault messages related to the wheel speed sensor
Before the replacement
Make sure the noise is coming from the bearing
Other causesA similar noise can also come from the tyres, brakes or other suspension parts.
Chassis inspection 20 €If the cause of the fault is not known, we start with an inspection. Chassis inspection
A separate bearing or the whole hub?
The design depends on the car model.
on some cars the bearing is pressed into the knuckle: the hub and parts are dismantled, the old bearing is pressed out and the new one in
on others the bearing and hub are a complete unit that is replaced as one part

ABS and the wheel bearing
A bearing can trigger a warning light
Magnetic ringOn many cars the ABS sensor reads the wheel speed from a magnetic ring integrated into the bearing.
Correct fittingThe bearing is fitted the right way round and without damaging the magnetic surface.
Warning lightsThe fault can show as an ABS, ESP or tyre pressure monitoring light. If needed, we start with fault code reading.
Is a four-wheel alignment needed?
It depends on the design of the car and which parts are removed during the work.
if the knuckle or other parts affecting the wheel angles are removed, an alignment may be needed
if the hub is replaced without dismantling that affects the adjustments, an alignment is not usually needed
we tell you in advance whether an alignment is needed
In pairs?
Usually only the faulty bearing
Not preventivelyIf the bearing on the other side has no play, noise or other signs of a fault, it does not usually need replacing.
Four-wheel alignment 79 €During the same visit if needed. Read more
Frequently asked questions
How much does wheel bearing replacement cost?
Rear wheel bearing replacement from 85 € and front wheel from 127.50 €. The price depends on the car’s design and the amount of dismantling. Parts are charged separately.
Do bearings need replacing in pairs?
Usually not. We replace the faulty bearing. If there are no signs of a fault on the other side, it does not need replacing preventively.
Can the ABS light be caused by a wheel bearing?
Yes. On many cars the ABS sensor reads the magnetic ring of the bearing, so a fault in the bearing or the ring can turn on the ABS or ESP light.
Why do bearings wear quickly in Finland?
Road salt in winter, moisture and large temperature differences put a strain on bearings and their seals. That is why we recommend quality parts, for example FAG.
Does the ABS sensor need replacing at the same time?
Not always, but sometimes. If the sensor has to be removed for the bearing replacement and it has rusted in, it cannot always be removed intact. The sensor may also already be damaged if the ABS ring on the bearing or driveshaft has rusted and swollen. In that case the sensor is replaced at the same time – we tell you before continuing.
Is a four-wheel alignment needed?
Only if parts affecting the wheel angles are removed during the work. We tell you in advance if it is needed.
